HARDWARE

Everty is hardware-agnostic, meaning our EV charging management software is compatible with any OCPP compliant EV charger in the world. However, in a market flooded with various brands and models, distinguishing between quality products that are truly OCPP compliant and those with just compelling marketing but will give you headaches later on can be challenging.

At Everty, we don't manufacture or sell our own EV charging hardware, and we don't receive referral fees for recommending any products. Our stance is 100% neutral and we exclusively recommend and list EV charging products that we have tested ourselves that both function in commercial applications and properly adhere to OCPP compliance standards, ensuring they not only work seamlessly but are able to deliver the solution to address our client's specific EV charging requirements.

Here's an alphabetical list of EV chargers that have undergone Everty’s thorough testing and properly meet OCPP compliance standards:

What is OCPP and why is it important?

OCPP stands for Open Charge Point Protocol and it is like a language that a Charging Station Management Software (CSMS) like the Everty Driver or Station Control apps uses to talk to a physical EV charger.

When a driver hits start charge on the Everty Driver app, the app is communicating via OCPP and saying to the physical EV charger, "Hi, time to get to work and send out some energy." The EV charger understands this message and activates to start charging your EV.

If the EV charger isn't OCPP compatible, it would be like getting into a taxi in a foreign country where you both speak different languages, and asking the driver to take you to your hotel. Communication wouldn't work, and you wouldn't get very far.

Thankfully, OCPP has been widely adopted as the industry standard language for EV chargers. Many EV chargers understand OCPP but like any language, not all have the same level of vocabulary and understanding. Some EV chargers may only grasp basic commands like "Start" and "Stop", while others have a more extensive vocabulary, offering advanced features crucial for commercial EV charging applications.

After 7 years, Everty has worked with and tested a large range of EV charger brands and models, and we can confidently recommend the brands above for comprehensive OCPP compliance.

Hardware Testing

Electrical hardware compliance is a vital step in the successful launch of an EV charger but it's just the beginning. Unless the goal is to sell one charger per private household, comprehensive OCPP compliance is essential to thrive in commercial applications.

At Everty, we have a Research & Development test lab, providing in-house testing services for AC chargers and offering remote or onsite testing for DC chargers. Out testing covers:

  • Charger configuration and setup

  • OCPP configuration and setup

  • Hardware functionality

  • OCPP functionality

  • CSMS app test - Android and iOS

  • RFID tests

  • Design and electrical hardware feedback

Collaborating with your team, we identify and address issues, retest based on your responses, proactively highlight potential problems in different commercial applications, and deliver a comprehensive report for product enhancement, R&D, training, or marketing purposes.
